The 2023 Colour of the Year – Hooked On You Australia

Colours of The Year 2023

Stemming from 2000, Pantone annually releases a colour of the year to reflect current social and cultural trends. There is a highly focused research and selection period - and while all of this might sound a bit silly, the colour of the year ultimately affects styles and trends across society - from fashion to home decor, pop culture to technology.

The Colour of the Year both anticipates and influences social trends. For example:

  • In 2020 the Colour of the Year was Classic Blue, aiming to provide a sense of dependability and reassurance in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • In 2021 there were two colours: solid, reliable Ultimate Gray and a vibrant yellow called Illuminating - the aim to reflect on the pandemic while offering some optimism for the future

  • In 2022, a periwinkle blue called Very Peri was chosen to suggest creativity and cautious optimism.

Chosen to reflect, a sense of joy, exuberance and wit, the 2023 Pantone Colour of the Year is Viva Magenta

How Can I Incorporate This Into My Wardrobe?

Incorporating colour into your wardrobe can be a great way to add a bit of personality and fun to your look. There are lots of ways to do this, including adding accessories like scarves, hats, and jewelry in bright colours, wearing patterned tops and bottoms, and even just wearing a bright pop of colour in your outfit. We're big fans of using bright earrings to add pops of colour into your fashion - and why not start 2023 with our Macaw Dangles which tie into the 2023 Pantone of the Year??
